Attackers exploited the hacked account to promote fraudulent tokens, including "Sir Pancake" and "Mr Pancake," amassing over $20 million in trading volume before detection. Phishing sites mimicking PancakeSwap's interface targeted users, employing subtle URL manipulations to deceive victims.
